Volkswagen Introduces In-Car Wi-Fi That Lets You Choose Carriers

Having the ability to access the internet when you’re riding in the car has been hugely beneficial for many drivers here in Memphis, but there is one major limitation that comes with this convenience: being restricted to using only the one wireless carrier that the automaker permits.

Volkswagen wants to free its customers from that limitation by providing the freedom to select your preferred carrier when paying for an in-vehicle hotspot. Here’s how VW is doing that.

Data plans for in-car Wi-Fi for Volkswagen models in Memphis will now be available through multiple carriers. By establishing arrangements with Verizon and T-Mobile®, Volkswagen gives you the freedom to select your preferred carrier from a list of permitted companies. Now you can purchase unlimited data through either company for your VW car via Car-Net Hotspot.

This will allow you to choose an in-car hotspot provider that you may already have an existing mobile data plan through for your mobile devices. Carrier of Choice is a first among automakers and shows how Volkswagen knows its customers needs are all different—especially when it comes to 4G LTE Wi-Fi access on the go. If you want in-car Wi-Fi for your VW car or SUV here in Memphis, Tennessee, we invite you to Gossett Volkswagen of Germantown to see which new VW models offer Volkswagen Car-Net compatibility.
