After months of speculation, Volkswagen officially announced its first all-electric SUV: the Volkswagen ID.4. Among the many compelling things the ID.4 has to show off, the innovative SUV boasts a truly advanced exterior design based on organic forms that boost efficiency.
Designed by the wind
According to the Volkswagen Group’s Head of Design, Klaus Zyciora, the ID.4’s airy exterior appearance has “gentle, soft transitions [that] alternate with sharp, clear separating edges. The design looks as if shaped by the wind itself.”
As expected of a vehicle that looks like it was engineered by a brisk breeze, the Volkswagen ID.4 is extremely aerodynamic. From its slim-but-spacious passenger compartment to its cleverly-shaped taillight assembly, the VW ID.4 was designed to minimize drag. That effort appears to have been successful, as the EV has a 0.28 drag coefficient.
Beautiful glass roof
The all-new Volkswagen ID.4 has a unique glass roof that allows for a panoramic view of the world outside your SUV. A simple-to-use, button-activated sunshade is included as well if you aren’t feeling the UV rays.
