Capitalizing on the popularity of the all-new Jetta and on performance variants like the Golf GTI and Golf R, Volkswagen has brought back the Jetta GLI with a vengeance. The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI made its world premiere in February at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show and immediately put the performance sedan segment on notice.
The 2019 Jetta GLI is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo TSI® engine that generates 228 horsepower (with 93-octane fuel) and 258 lb-ft of torque, making it 18-horsepower and 51-lb-ft of torque more powerful than the outgoing GLI. The new Jetta GLI comes with a six-speed manual and is available with a seven-speed DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission with Start/Stop technology.
Also offered with the Jetta GLI is an independent sport suspension, Drive Mode Selection, variable ratio electric power-assisted steering, and a VAQ electronically controlled limited-slip differential. The limited 35th Anniversary model gets DCC® adaptive damping as well as a fifth drive mode: “Comfort.” The GLI Autobahn features a 400-watt BeatsAudio® system with eight speakers, a panoramic sunroof, and leather seating with ventilated front seats and driver power and memory. The 2019 VW Jetta GLI will be making its debut at Gossett Volkswagen Germantown this spring. Call or stop in to learn how you can be one of the first to take one for a test drive.
